Fredericksburg Star Quilt

We went to Fredericksburg after Christmas in 2013, and I found One Quilt Place. Alas, the website said they were closed on New Year’s Eve, which was the day we had to visit there. I asked in the visitor center about any other quilt shops and the lady said, “Let me call and see!” Sure enough, Bev said to send us out. They had been working hard on inventory for several days and all her employees were exhausted, so she had closed the store and had electricians and plumbers coming in. However, she spent so much time helping me select fabric and decide how to use it in my pattern! More people came out and they ended up opening the store after all! Goes to show what nice people quilters are.

this one is currently unfinished: all blocks are sewn but need to be trimmed, sewn together, bordered and quilted.

Update July 23, 2015: Blocks are now sashed, together, and bordered!

The he little wheelbarrow boys are from a torn-up old gingham tablecloth that belonged to my husband’s grandmother. I love that I could use them and believe that God is enough involved in the details of our lives to think that the reason I never felt like putting this together is that I wouldn’t have this tablecloth until this summer!image

Now to decide how to quilt! Any suggestions?

Update: I used the YouDoodle free app to experiment with quilting designs, which really helped! It was in our guild show in February 2016.
